Introduction
Q: What is the recommended order to turn components on and off?
A: Short version:
- Turn on the powered loudspeakers last.
- Turn off the powered loudspeakers first.
We want to avoid amplifying the sounds of connecting and disconnecting things in the signal chain.
Terminology
Powered Loudspeaker
The powered loudspeaker is anything with an amplifier:
- L1 Compact
- L1 Model 1S
- L1 Model II
- S1 Pro system
- F1 Model 812 Flexible Array Loudspeaker
- PackLite® power amplifier model A1
- Any third-party active loudspeaker (has an amp and loudspeaker)
Mixer
The mixer is
- Any ToneMatch Mixer[1] or T1 ToneMatch Audio Engine
- Any third-party mixer
Overview
- Power on
- Follow the signal path from source to loudspeaker.
- Power off
- Do the reverse of Power on.

Power On
- Follow the signal path from source to loudspeaker.
- Connect sound sources that goes into the mixer before turning on
- Turn on anything that plugs into an input on the mixer
- Turn down the mixer master volume
- Turn on the mixer mixer
- Turn on powered loudspeaker
Power off
- Turn off powered loudspeaker
- If you have an PackLite® power amplifier model A1, turn it off first
- L1 Model 1S and L1 Model II only, you can remove the Cylindrical Radiator® and B1 Bass Module and B2 Bass Module first if you like.
- Turn off the mixer
- Turn off anything that plugs into an input on the mixer
