Let me address as many of these questions as I can:
 +
 +
I address them in the spirit of the fact that we aren't trying to hide anything, but I still don't understand what the real question is.
 +
 +
1.) The B1. The B1 is indeed now a couple of pounds lighter than before. The original B1's had special brackets rated for 'flying' the loudspeakers that were adapted from an earlier product. We now re-did the bracket and made the B1 a couple pounds lighter. The main difference that folks will notice is that handle is now made out of a high strenth plastic instead of die cast metal. It is much warmer to the touch for wintertime lugging.
 +
 +
It has the same performance, same drivers, same box, same impedance.
 +
 +
Classic B1 is 28 lbs.
 +
New B1 is 25.1 lbs.
 +
 +
The new model I manual is indeed incorrect in the new B1 spec. It will be changed...thank you for pointing this out!
 +
 +
2.) Classic vs. L1 model I weight. Both are listed as 35lbs. I made a mistake before by saying the power stand is a 'couple pounds' lighter. In reality it is less than a pound lighter.
 +
 +
3.) Input power ratings. These ratings are designated by UL safety standards and in actuality are only loosely related to how the amplifiers actually function.
 +
 +
The UL (USA - 120V,60Hz AC) AC Input power ratings are:
 +
 +
Classic : 1400W AC @120V/60Hz
 +
model I: 1000W AC @120V/60Hz
 +
model II: 500W AC MAX
 +
 +
Our UL Safety fellow here is forwarding me the difference in UL safety ratings and how those specs are arrived at. Again, he stressed it had very little to do with the way the amplifiers actually work.
 +
 +
As I said a few times before, the max output of the systems is virtually the same.

Topic: Help choosing between the Model I and the Model II

MikeZ-at-Bose Posted Tue April 03 2007 12:44 PM Let me address as many of these questions as I can:

I address them in the spirit of the fact that we aren't trying to hide anything, but I still don't understand what the real question is.

It has the same performance, same drivers, same box, same impedance.

Classic B1 is 28 lbs. New B1 is 25.1 lbs.

The new model I manual is indeed incorrect in the new B1 spec. It will be changed...thank you for pointing this out!

2.) Classic vs. L1 model I weight. Both are listed as 35lbs. I made a mistake before by saying the power stand is a 'couple pounds' lighter. In reality it is less than a pound lighter.

3.) Input power ratings. These ratings are designated by UL safety standards and in actuality are only loosely related to how the amplifiers actually function.

The UL (USA - 120V,60Hz AC) AC Input power ratings are:

Classic : 1400W AC @120V/60Hz model I: 1000W AC @120V/60Hz model II: 500W AC MAX

Our UL Safety fellow here is forwarding me the difference in UL safety ratings and how those specs are arrived at. Again, he stressed it had very little to do with the way the amplifiers actually work.

As I said a few times before, the max output of the systems is virtually the same.
