Chirping Cricket Sounds

Try this:

Disable Unnecessary Audio Outputs

  1. Start
  2. All Programs
  3. Accessories
  4. Entertainment
  5. Volume Control (shortcut to this step, Start | Run | sndvol32.exe)
  6. Options
  7. Properties
  8. Adjust Properties for Playback
in the box "Show the following volume controls"
  9. Check all the devices
  10. Click OK
  11. Mute all the devices except "Mute all"

If the chirping cricket sound goes away, uncheck the mute until you identify which one is causing the trouble. If it is *not* the Wave device, you can are probably okay to leave things muted - as you probably don't need the others for music playback.
