It is with sadness that I have to report that Sound Control announced this morning that they had called in the administrators having become formally insolvent.

The news was a shock to the whole UK musical instrument (MI) industry and I personally wish all of my colleagues in the company every best wish with finding alternative employment. A selection of the Sound Control stores plus the Turnkey store in London will continue to trade with hopes that a buyer can be found for the business.

Here are some notes for existing and prospective L1 customers.

1) Bose UK Ltd will be supplying new items direct to the public until a replacement dealer network has been established in the areas covered by Sound Control. If you wish to make a purchase please contact us on 0870 741 4500 or ring me directly on 07738 801130. Our established direct sales structure will be able to make your transaction as painless as possible.

2) All warranties will naturally continue to be honoured by us and if you have a problem please ring the numbers above or email andrew_rigler@bose.com

3) We are looking at ways of making it easier for customers to try a L1 and this may include a trial system similar to the USA. If this occurs I will post a notification on this forum.

4) Bose can no longer trade with the Sound Control group and so please do not place any orders with them as they will not be fulfilled.

5) Customers in Scotland can obtain L1s from Bruce Millers and Co of Aberdeen (www.brucemillersdirect.co.uk)

6) Bose cannot enter any financial dispute between a customer and Sound Control/Turnkey. These disputes should be taken up with the administrators, Deloitte Touche and Co.

7) Bose remains committed to the MI market and fully supportive of music stores. It may be that a buyer is found for the Sound Control group and we may well be able to agree terms to reactivate a Bose presence in the remaining stores.

8) Future announcements will be made via the 'For Europeans' area on the forum.
