This is an alphabetized glossary of technical terms used in Bose L1 Pro articles.

Glossary

Array (Line Array)
A vertical stack of small speakers working together to project sound evenly across distances. Wikipedia
Bluetooth Streaming
Wireless audio transmission from mobile devices to the speaker system. Technical Data Sheets
Bose App
Formerly the L1 Mix App, now used to control mixer settings, EQ, and presets wirelessly. Bose Music App
Cardioid Configuration
Subwoofer setup that directs bass forward and cancels it behind—ideal for stage control. Sub Comparison
Coverage Pattern
The angle and shape in which sound spreads—Bose arrays offer 180° horizontal coverage. Reference
Coupling (Subwoofer)
Positioning multiple subs close together to reinforce bass output through acoustic synergy. Sub Comparison
Elevated Stage
Performance platform higher than the audience; affects speaker placement and vertical sound dispersion. Reference
Feedback
High-pitched squeal caused by audio looping between microphone and speaker. Shure
Frequency Response
The range of sound frequencies a speaker can reproduce, typically in Hz. Technical Data Sheets
Mono / Stereo Sound
Mono uses a single channel; stereo splits audio into left/right channels for spatial depth. Reference
Onboard Mixer
Built-in mixing console with inputs for microphones, instruments, and Bluetooth audio. Reference
RaceTrack Subwoofer
A slim, rectangular subwoofer design by Bose that delivers deep bass in a compact form. Sub Comparison
SPL (Sound Pressure Level)
Measurement of loudness in decibels (dB). Higher SPL = louder output. Reference
Throw Distance
How far sound travels effectively before losing clarity or volume. Throw Over Distance
ToneMatch Presets
EQ presets designed by Bose to optimize sound for specific instruments and vocals. ToneMatch Mixers
Venue Depth
Measurement from the stage to the back of a room, important for estimating needed projection. Reference
